Exeter
Market is the largest and most modern market in Devon. Completed in
1990 on the Marsh Barton Trading Estate this purpose built site was
designed so that all pennage, sale rings etc.are under one roof. The
market has excellent unloading and loading facilities, large parking
area, wash-out facilities and a good restaurant.
Our
market is registered as ABM approved, we have a modern computerised
accounting system and we were one of the first markets in the country
to train our drovers to NVQ standard.
The
market has good road links to the M5 (Junction 30) for clients from
throughout the UK, and to the A38 and A30 for customers from the rest
of the South West as far down as the west of Cornwall
We
hold Primestock markets every Monday for finished cattle, sheep and
cull ewes and sales each Friday of all classes of Store Stock.
In
addition special sales are held in each section.
The
sheep section holds special breeding sales regularly and also host a number of breed society sales including Poll
Dorset, Charollais, Suffolk, Lleyn, Greyface Dartmoor and Whiteface
Dartmoors during the year. The market is also the venue for the
annual NSA South West Ram Sale which is held each August.
The
cattle section hold weekly sales of store cattle, calves and stirks
together with fortnightly sales of dairy cattle and monthly sales of
suckler cows & calves. In addition we hold seasonal sales of
Continental & Continental cross store cattle in the spring and autumn.
We
are also the only market in Devon to hold regular fortnightly sales
of pigs.
The
market is run by a consortium of four of the principle firms of
auctioneers in Devon., namely Husseys, Rendells, Sawdye & Harris and
Stags whose long-standing practices ensure an unrivalled experience
and knowledge of livestock marketing.
